FIRE DETECTION & ALARM SYSTEMS
First City can provide an engineered system solution to meet all applications from a simple conventional system, a radio based system or a multi-panel networked Intelligent Analogue Addressable system. Our systems are based on open protocols with leading industry manufacturers and this ensures ongoing maintenance costs are kept at a sensible level. All systems comply fully with current relevant British and European Standards and are fully certified on completion by our highly skilled technicians.
ASPIRATION DETECTION SYSTEMS [VESDA]
The use of aspirating systems are primarily to provide a Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus warning so that a fire can be extinguished before serious damage or lengthy interruption of service occurs. Aspiration sensors are highly sensitive and can detect smoke before it is visible to the human eye.
FIRE EXTINGUISHANT SYSTEMS [SUPPRESSION]
First City offer comprehensive fire suppression systems for the protection of IT Computer Rooms, essential plant and machinery. Products utilised include FM200, IG55 and WaterMist. We handle both the mechanical and electrical detection aspects of such systems.
NATURAL SMOKE VENTILATION SYSTEMS
We can provide natural smoke ventilation systems including Automatic Opening Vents [AOV's] and Manual Opening Vents [MOV's]. These systems are used to clear smoke build-up from corridors, lift lobbies and staircases and are interfaced typically to the building's fire alarm system. When smoke is detected automatic actuators are used to open windows or smoke shaft doors that create a chimney effect when used with roof-opening domes.
VOICE ALARM AND PUBLIC ADDRESS
Clear communication in an emergency situation saves lives. We provide voice alarm and public address systems to BS5588. Voice alarms can be programmed with clear and precise evacuation and fire alarm test messages. These systems can also be utilised by the emergency services when they take command of a situation in your building.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING
Our emergency lighting range covers simple stand alone luminaires and extend through to Central Battery Units [CBU's] and on to infrared self testing ranges. All equipment complies with BS5266 and EU Directives.
DISABLED REFUGE ALARM SYSTEMS
To comply with the DDA Act of 2004 public access buildings designed over more than a single storey should provide a refuge point on landing areas where disabled visitors and staff report to in the event of an emergency. When fire alarms are activated lift doors are designed to return to ground floor and remain open so they cannot be used to escape. Any person requiring assistance to evacuate attends the refuge point and operates the refuge alarm system to communicate via speech with building management or the fire authorities. All systems comply fully with BS5839 part 9 and also BS5588.
NURSE CALL SYSTEMS & DISABLED WC ALARMS
First City offer a comprehensive range of call systems which include conventional and addressable nurse call systems with or without speech options, radio based wireless systems, disabled W. C. alarm systems from single W. C. kit up to multiple W. C. kits. We have a range to suit every application and every budget.
STAFF SAFETY/ATTACK ALARM SYSTEMS
Our portfolio of systems includes both simple hardwired push-button attack alarms to more sophisticated infrared and radio based systems. Typical installations have been in mental health residential schemes, probation offices, NHS walk in centres and custody suites. First City's range of systems allows the exact area where staff are being attacked and the identity of the staff member involved to be identified quickly.
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY/LIFESTYLE MONITORING
Telecare is a service that allows people to live an independent lifestyle with the appropriate level of carer support. Telecare packages are ideal for the following user groups; people with disabilities, those with learning difficulties, those who have sensory impairment, people who are vulnerable or at risk, those with limited mobility and the elderly. We can provide a communication alarm system that is tailored to the individual service users' needs by asking clients and tailoring a package of Telehealth 'add on' devices which include pull cords, movement sensors, out of bed alarms, door alarms, epilepsy sensors, temperature sensors and smoke detectors.
CCTV SYSTEMS
First City utilizes the latest digital technology for early image capture, event monitoring and secure data storage in full compliance with the Data Protections Act. We have engineered systems for basic, intermediate and complex video surveillance using branded high end equipment at highly competitive prices.
ACCESS CONTROL SOLUTIONS
From a simple single door to multiple door site systems First City provides state of the art access control systems utilising keypads, card readers and/or prox token readers. Systems can be managed by our software package that will allow building management to view who opens which door and at what time and date. We can combine card swipe systems that also double as Company photo ID badges and offer a range bio metric systems.
DOOR ENTRY SYSTEMS
As a partner installer for some of the leading UK brand systems First City offers a comprehensive range of door entry options that includes audio, audio video and DDA compliant system solutions that utilise dual height panels, braille pips and visual indicators. Due to the design of our chosen systems we have a number of systems ideal for retro fitting older faulty systems utilising existing cabling infrastructure, providing a cost effective solution. All our door entry systems can include built in access control readers.
AUDIO INDUCTION LOOPS - AFILS
As a response to the Disability Discrimination Act [DDA] 2004 audio frequency induction loops or AFILS are required in public access buildings such as schools, courts, colleges, libraries, hotels, GP centres and hospitals. A hearing induction loop contains a microphone which picks up the spoken word and transmits to the building/service users own hearing aid which is set in the 'T' position. First City offers an extensive range of loops that include portable kits, counter kits and infrared systems for churches and lecture theatres.
SOUND REINFORCEMENT SYSTEMS
Sound reinforcement systems have been specifically designed to enhance sound delivery by teachers to their students and are installed in schools, colleges and universities. In simple terms without a sound reinforcement system, around 25% of the teachers' verbal delivery is missed by students resulting in poor comprehension, inattention and lower academic results. The provision of a sound reinforcement system amplifies the sound delivery and ensures the teacher's voice reaches all over the room and can be heard first time, every time and without shouting.
PAGING SYSTEMS
Our range of paging systems are designed to interface to fire alarms and nurse call systems. When used in conjunction with a fire alarm hand held pagers can be given to building visitors with visual and/or hearing impairment and can offer an alternative method of ensuring they're aware that the building' fire alarm system has activated and the pager provides an audible bleep tone, a visible LCD message display and also vibrates. When interfaced with our nurse call systems they can provide a quick indication and nursing response when carried by nursing staff.
POWER OPEN DOORS
Used to provide assistance to disabled building users the automatic opening door systems utilise powered open and close devices that can be activated via movement sensors, push pads or other methods, such as floor switches designed to allow wheelchairs to run over them to open the doors. First City has solutions for swing doors and slide open doors and can also interface our door systems to the buildings access control installation.

We are specified by numerous Local Authorities, Government Agencies,Police Authorities, Education & Health Authorities, Hotels & Leisure Groups and Building Services Engineers. Our Indicator panels are available either flush or surface mount and finished in stove enamel to your RAL colour choice or in Brushed or Polished Steel options with engraved colour infil detailing. Systems can be provided with or without a re-chargeable battery back up supply. The vast range of call points and indicators include standard white PVC plates or Brushed/Polished steel options. Call points can be reset with options that include push button, key or twist button.To compliment our range of custom accessories we also have a range of fully IP rated call and signaling/indicator units for use in swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzis.
